MISSION: The Regional Emergency Response Training Center is a resource center for educational institutions (secondary and post-secondary), business and government primarily serving the state of Washington. In its regional role the Center serves as a coordinating arm for the College's Fire Sciences program and its Administration of Justice (AJ) Program, The Parks Law Enforcement Academy.

LOCATION: The Center exists as part of the Administration of Justice Program at Skagit Valley College in Mt. Vernon, Washington

The College grants Associate in Technical Arts (ATA) degrees in the Administration of Justice (AJ). Two degree options that are awaiting approval by the State Board and likely to be approved during this grant include Park Services and Protection option, and the Security and Protective Services option.

The Parks Law Enforcement Academy has a basic certificate earned with 30 quarter credits, and that certificate may be enhanced by up to fifteen additional credits taken in tandem with the Parks LE Academy in subject matter area including EMT-B, EMS First Responder, HazMat Awareness for LE Responders, Spanish for Emergency Services Personnel, and Wildland Firefighter Red Card certification. The AJ program also offers seven "micro-certificates" - all 20 quarter credits or less - in the areas of Corrections, Interactive Community Policing, Legal Studies, Homeland Security/Domestic Preparedness, Investigative Principles, Armed/Unarmed Private and Commercial Security, and Public Safety Dispatcher. The program also grants AAUCT (transfer degrees to 4-year colleges and universities), and has program articulations with same.

The Fire Sciences program grants an Associate in Technical Arts degree in Fire Protection Technology, and a micro-certificate in Firefighter 1 - Module 1 training. Additional certificates are available for EMT-B, First Responder, Hazardous Materials, and, as in the AJ program described above, various ICS, IC and NIMS certifications. The program is geared for work-based learning, preparing graduates for careers in professional firefighting.
