Portfolios
To order the Portfolio and Planner--Hardcopy version
In 2004 we announced the new Portfolio and Planner developed exclusively for the Law, Public Safety, Corrections and Security Career Programs.
As we outlined then, the National Partnership for Careers in Law, Public Safety, Corrections and Security, working with Talent Assessment, Inc., developed an academic career planner and portfolio specifically for students interested in careers in law, fire and emergency services, law enforcement, corrections and security.
We view such planners and portfolios as key ingredients for any viable career program at the secondary and post-secondary education levels. They help keep students focused and provide key methods to help students think through their career and education goals and make realistic choices.
The purpose of the portfolio is twofold:
1)Provide a comprehensive planning system for students from 8th grade through the first two years of college;
2)Hold the key documents students will need to show proof of their work and develop resumes.
We held two planning and feedback sessions to help us finalize the portfolio -- one session in Maryland and a second session in Los Angeles during the National Conference. The Portfolio and Planner is now ready for use.
THE AVAILABILITY OF THE LAW, PUBLIC SAFETY, CORRECTIONS AND SECURITY ACADEMIC AND CAREER PORTFOLIO/PLANNERS
Last year, with the help of many of those responsible for law, public safety, corrections and security career programs around the country, a comprehensive academic and career portfolio and planner was piloted and then offered as a one time nationwide opportunity.
Over 1700 were purchased. A few hundred remain. These are being offered on a "first come-first served" basis.
As long as they last, you may order quantities of 20 or more for $7.50 each.
The individual samples are still available. The cost of one Portfolio/Planner is still $12.50 and two Portfolio/Planners cost $20.00
Each order comes with a comprehensive manual for students, instructors and counselors.

The Portfolio/Planners have 8 pages -- made of sturdy material to last up to six years. The customized law, fire and emergency services, law enforcement, corrections and security planner and portfolio is more comprehensive than the standard version. It also builds on the Law, Public Safety and Security Career Cluster and allows the students to make career pathway decisions each year and determine the education and experience ramifications of those decisions.
