Emergency
Telecommunicator Course Instructor Certification
Purpose:
This course provides the knowledge, skills, and national certification
you need to teach the Emergency Telecommunicator Course (ETC). Once
you have taken this course and received national certification, you
will have obtained the highest status available for basic emergency
telecommunications instructors.
When: June 26-28, 2009
Where: Delgado Community College, City Park Campus,
New Orleans
Sponsored by: The course is presented through collaboration
between National Academies of Emergency Dispatch (NAED) and the National
Partnership for Careers in Law, Public Safety, Corrections, and Security.
Costs: Cost will be $450 through June 20 and $500 after
that date. Each participant will receive a Teaching Packet with the
student (course) manual (approx. 200 pages) and instructor manual (approx.
160 pages).
Participants: Instructors at the secondary and post-secondary
levels with experience in the public safety field and/or teaching in
that field.
Institute Description: Obtaining NAED ETC instructor certification
affiliates you with the world's largest independent, public safety-related
certification organization. The ETC-I course includes all of the materials
necessary to teach the ETC Course and certify your students, including:
ETC
Course Manual (student manual)
ETC Instructor Manual
ETC Instructor Toolkit (CD-ROM)
-Complete
PowerPoint presentations for each chapter/topic
-Instructor
notes
-Audio media
-Video media
The most important benefit of ETC instructor certification is that your
students will be eligible for NAED ETC certification. Students who take
the Emergency Telecommunicator Course from uncertified instructors are
not eligible for ETC certification. This certification is a nationally
recognized certification that 911 centers use. In many cases those hired
with this certification start at a higher salary than those hired who
are not certified. In all cases career programs starting such the ETC
should have partnerships with their local emergency dispatch centers.
