Emergency Medical Technician/Firefighter Program: Lawton, Oklahoma

The Emergency Medical Technician /Firefighter Program at the Great Plains Technology Center, Lawton, Oklahoma, is a 9 month, full time program that offers training to both adults and area high school students interested in public safety occupations. Students learn fire safety, search and rescue, HAZCOM and emergency medical skills. Students also are given courses in the National Incident Management System and receive Emergency Vehicle Driver's Training. Physical training is also a significant part of this program. Successful completion of this program leads toward certifying for Firefighter Level I, CPR for Healthcare Providers, Hazardous Materials Operations, and Emergency Medical Technician - Basic Level. The Great Plains Technology Center EMT/Firefighter Program is a National Pilot Site for Law, Public Safety, Corrections and Security Career Cluster, and is the 2006 Winner of the National Tech Prep Network (now National Career Pathways Network) Exemplary Worksite Learning Award.
